Uptown Social
The Dyckman Street strip is becoming more and more popular with new bars, lounges, and restaurants popping up. Uptown Social is a recent arrival.
Uptown Social is a little different than most nightlife spots it’s the first sports bar in the Inwood area.
The bar opened in the middle of April, but I paid a recent visit on a Saturday night and when I saw the packed dance floor, I knew I was at the right place.
The décor quickly caught my eye. It’s trendy, modern and the plasma televisions are a plus for sports games. When I entered the lounge, everyone was on their feet dancing to a mix of hip-hop, dembow and other music.
Others were at the bar chatting it up with friends and enjoying drinks and hookahs. There, I ordered a “Sherman Mojito,” one of Uptown’s specialty cocktails. This cocktail has Cîroc Red Berry Vodka infused with some mint leaves, syrup, lime juice and a splash of cranberry for $12. The red berry is a nice spin to the traditional mojito.
Covers on Friday nights are $20 for men and $15 for the ladies and Saturday nights are $20 for men while ladies get in free. Dress to impress!
