Lounge

One of Brooklyn’s hot spots is Ooba Lounge. Once I stepped past the curtains, I immediately felt the lively ambiance. Everyone was dancing and enjoying themselves.

The lounge’s main floor has a bar and ample space. But for those who like a more intimate setting, the Sunken Lounge is an option. The mezzanine is a better alternative for larger groups and offers a full view of the DJ and party on the lower level. That Saturday, the DJ was Chrisnasty, who gave me a few pointers on the 1s and 2s and showed me how to get the crowd moving.

At the bar, I ordered a “Seduction,” a mix of Hennessy, Amaretto, Grand Marnier Cordon Rouge and a splash of pineapple juice for $10, and it definitely hit the spot. Ooba offers a happy hour Wednesday to Friday from 6:30 to 8 pm, $5 sangrias, mojitos, mixed drinks and $3 beers. On Saturday, ladies are free before 12 a.m. and after 11 p.m. guys pay $10.
