ECHAVESTE IS PERFECT FOR MEXICO

For the United States, its relationship with Mexico is one of the most important, as well as being complex because of the many aspects it encompasses. Given this context, María Echaveste has the experience and knowledge needed to become the next U.S. representative in Los Pinos.

President Obama recently nominated Echaveste to become the next ambassador to Mexico. We hope that the Senate confirms her as soon as possible. Not having a high-level representative in Mexico’s capital hurts the relationship between the nations.

The work this nominee did in the immigration area, like other progressive positions she took, should not be used to gain political brownie points. She reflects the viewpoints of the president who nominated her; Obama is entitled to have his government’s representative share his ideology.

Echaveste is the best person to represent our country in Mexico at this crucial time in the bilateral relationship. Her nomination must not be delayed, so she can begin her work as soon as possible
