Angel y Khriz are back in the game with Wepa
After being missing in action for nearly five years, reggaeton duo Angel y Khriz are back in the game with a whole new style and single. Leaving behind their baggy jeans and bling-bling, the Puerto Rican duo looks sleeker and fresher than ever. But we’re not here to talk about their nicely-pressed fashion; instead, we’re here to talk about their latest single “Wepa.” SEE ALSO: Farruko: Its time for a new generation of reggaeton After taking a break in 2010 with the release of their third studio album “Da’ Take Over,” Angel y Khriz are ecstatic to make their comeback with a vibrant and fun single. “This is our third single following ‘My Corazon’ and ‘Te Sigo Amando,'” Christian Colon Rolon a.k.a Khriz told VOXXI. “It’s something different, but still with the same energy and danceable music that characterizes us.” Angel Rivera Guzman a.k.a Angel elaborated on how the song came to life. “This song was born because I had the phrase ‘wepa’ stuck on my mind, it’s very common in Puerto Rico” he said, stating that he began to write the song around the popular word until he came up with the chorus. The rest of the single was developed in the recording studio. “Wepa,” which is inspired by rumba and soca beats, is the duo’s third single off their forthcoming album “Los Internacionales” set to release in 2015. [ione_embed src=//www.youtube.com/embed/tCzohVmVRts service=youtube width=640 height=360 type=iframe] “Musically, we try to make one album different than the other,” Khriz said. “I dare to say that out of the albums we’ve released after our first one, this production [‘Los Intenacionales’] has a lot of reaggaeton.” The duo’s fourth album also counts with new sounds, such as bachata and cumbia. “That’s the most wonderful thing about music, you can create what you feel,” he added. “Los Internacionales,” which counts with many collaborations including Gocho, was meant to debut this year, but the duo felt the album needed more love put into it before its release. “So far, I know everyone will like the album,” Khriz said. “In 2015, we will be on the road with a new album.” The pair said that in the new year, they plan to be very focused on their upcoming release which they call their “fourth baby.” And as Christmas sneaks up on them, the guys are just grateful to take a break from their busy lives to spend it back home in the island.
