Former Iguala mayor’s wife is charged with organized crime in Mexico

The wife of the former mayor of Iguala, Mexico, where 43 missing college students are presumed to have been kidnapped and murdered at the hand of drug cartels has been officially charged. Prosecutors charged Maria de los Angeles Pineda with organized crime and money laundering in the, according to a report released by BBC on Tuesday. Her brothers allegedly operate a drug gang in the State of Guerrero—when the 43 male college students from the teachers college “La Normal” disappeared, authorities believe police handed them over to the drug gang after student protests that took place in September 2014.
