Looks like the moment we have all been patiently (or not so patiently) waiting for has arrived. The silver screen will soon be graced with the first Mexican Bond Girl, actress Stephanie Sigman.

She will join the ranks of Kim Basinger, Halle Berry, Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman and all the other sexy leading ladies who have had the questionable honor of being Bond Girls over the past fifty years.

Sigman is officially the first Mexican to share the screen with James Bond, which makes us wonder: what took so long?

Since the long running franchise began, James Bond has been accompanied by African-American Bond Girls, Asian Bond Girls and even a Nuyorican Bond Girl. It wasn’t until now that a Mexicana was selected for the role.

The news was announced via the official James Bond 007 Facebook page late into production of the newest chapter in the Bond saga entitled Spectre, which may mean Sigman won’t make it to the final credits.

There are two other Bond girls for this segment of the James Bond Franchise and because Sigman was announced last, she is the lesser known of the three. One Facebook user suggested she’d be the film’s “sacrificial lamb.”

Spectre is being directed by Sam Mendes, the same man who directed 2012’s Skyfall and who brought the world American Beauty. Seductive secret agent James Bond will of course be played by Daniel Craig.

Sigman first graced the business world as 23-year-old beauty queen wannabe-turned-narco princess, Laura Guerrero in Mexico’s 2011 Oscars foreign language submission, Miss Bala.

She also starred in the Norwegian thriller Pioneer. Her recent TV appearances include FX’s U.S. remake of the Danish/Swedish series The Bridge and Netflix’s Narcos.

However, Sigman’s role as the newest Bond Girl could very likely skyrocket her into an international sex symbol. She will be acting alongside fellow Bond Girls Monica Bellucci and Lea Seydoux.

The film will be released on November 6th.
