The founding of one of Shakira’s Colombian non-profit organization “Pies Descalzos” was ruined by a robbery early this week in La Playa de Barranquilla, Colombia.

Through a statement sent by the foundation, it was announced the burglars had stolen 31 computers that had been donated by the “Computers to Educate” from the National Government. The mishap occurred on March 14th.

“We note with sadness the unfortunate event that happened on the premises of School Fundación Pies Descalzos in the village of La Playa in Barranquilla.  Thirty-one laptops were stolen that were given to us two years ago by the ‘Computers to Educate from the Ministry of Education,’” says the letter.

“Incidents such as these directly affect the dynamics of our educational community. The laptops are essential everyday tools for children who are being educated to build a better country and fulfill their dreams in disadvantaged communities.”

The authorities have already begun investigations into the case, according to Telemundo.

Unfortunately, the security cameras were not lit at the time of the robbery. So far, Shakira has not issued any statement about the theft.
