Scarlett Johansson got back in shape by breastfeeding

Scarlett Johansson, some say arguably one of the loveliest women in Hollywood, is known for her fit physique and Latina-esc curves. As one of the Silver Screen’s sex symbols, a lot of pressure is placed on Johansson to maintain her figure as she enters her thirties, and even though she recently gave birth, the star looks just as fabulous as ever. In a recent interview with Barbara Walters on the annual 10 Most Fascinating People of 2014, the Avengers’ star stated motherhood was wonderful, exhausting and “magical.” “The love is just unbelievable,” she explained. “It’s very overwhelming.” As much as Johansson enjoys being a mom, it was breastfeeding that helped her get back to her red carpet figure. [Breastfeeding is] the best way to get back in shape,” she said. ” [I do] the whole bit. I’m nursing and I love it.” According to Makbib Diro, M.D., associate professor of clinical obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, breastfeeding can burn an extra 300-500 calories a day. The reason for this is because breast milk is a complex mixture of nutrients and immune system boosters that the body must work hard to continually produce. What’s more, many women return to their normal caloric intake once they have given birth, and this means a higher portion of the calories they take in are used to make milk. Of course, breastfeeding isn’t the only trick Scarlett Johansson has up her sleeve. The actress indicated in her interview she prefers weight lifting to cardio because she feels it gives her a total body workout while toning her muscles at the same time. “I do the same fitness routine as my big muscle-man trainer,” she said. “A lot of it is endurance, stability, and strength training. I like to work up a sweat.” SEE ALSO: Breastfeeding Mexican women at risk for triple-negative breast cancer Johansson also admits that, while a former vegan and always aware of her dietary intake, she loves bread and likely has no intention of jumping on the low-carb bandwagon anytime soon. “I love French food,” said Johansson. “I love the breads and patés — all that stuff. I don’t eat cheese, though, which shocks my French family and friends.”The post Scarlett Johansson got back in shape by breastfeeding appeared first on Voxxi.
