“‘Romeo and Juliet’ was the first Shakespeare I directed. It was 30
years ago and it’s been a privilege to go back to that play again and
experience its dynamism and volatility. It has such a rare intensity
that translates powerfully to the big screen,” said Kenneth Branagh.

Directors Branagh and Ashford present this modern, passionate version of
the Bard’s classic tragedy. A longstanding feud between Verona’s
Montague and Capulet families brings about devastating consequences for
two young lovers caught in the conflict.

“’Romeo and Juliet’ is a timeless classic, and we are thrilled to
continue our partnership with the Kenneth Branagh Theatre Company to
bring this story to life,” Fathom Events CEO John Rubey said. “With such
bright and talented stars whose chemistry is undeniable, this production
is sure to impress.”

James Merchant, Marketing Manager for Picturehouse Entertainment said,
“Following the success of last year’s ‘The Winter’s Tale,’ we are
thrilled to be bringing ‘Romeo and Juliet’ to American audiences with
Fathom Events. This dazzling production has been met with acclaim from
both press and audiences in London’s West End and features an incredible
cast of new stars and legendary performers. With this year being the
400th anniversary of Shakespeare’s death, ‘Romeo and Juliet’ is not to
be missed.”
