CTA Foundation Launches Contest for Startups Improving Lives of Seniors and People with Disabilities

Partners with Extreme Tech Challenge to include global startups

ARLINGTON, Va.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–#CES–The Consumer Technology Association (CTA)™ Foundation, partnering with
Extreme Tech Challenge, today announced the second annual video
contest
focused on startup companies with technologies that improve
lives. Five startup companies will be chosen to receive a complimentary
booth at CES®
2017
in Eureka
Park
™, the show’s flagship startup Marketplace, and a $2,500 prize.
As part of the Extreme Tech Challenge, a program bringing together world
class advisors and entrepreneurs, winners will also be entered for a
chance to pitch special guest judge Sir Richard Branson on his private
Necker Island. The contest deadline is September 30, 2016. Owned and
produced by CTA, CES is the world’s gathering place for all who thrive
on the business of consumer technologies and will run January 5-8, 2017,
in Las Vegas, NV.

“Innovations in technology are enabling older adults and people with
disabilities to live healthier and more independent lives,” said Steve
Ewell, executive director, CTA Foundation. “We are excited to recognize
a few of the many life improving technologies that will be on display at
CES 2017.”

“The CTA Foundation Video Contest helped us, a very young and
underfunded startup, get on stage at CES and led us into international
headlines,” said Alberto Rizzoli of Aipoly, CES 2016 video contest
winner. “We had a documentary filmed about us during the experience and
our technology is now helping tens of thousands of people around the
world. CES marked our official launch, and as a result of our success
there and what came after it, we were greeted by the President of Italy
last week while in Rome.”

To enter, startups will fill out and submit the entry form and include
highlights about how their technology improves the lives of seniors or
people with disabilities. The deadline for entry is September 30, 2016.
Full details about the CTA Foundation’s video contest including links to
the entry form can be found online.

“Winning an award with the CTA Foundation has changed everything for
NuEyes,” said Mark Greget of NuEyes. “The media attention, the
networking at CES, and the brand recognition of this award has opened
doors that we didn’t know existed. We can’t thank CTA enough for helping
get NuEyes noticed at the largest technology show in the world and
providing a platform for launching our startup.”

For the second year in a row, CES will host the Accessibility
Marketplace
to highlight technology that facilitates connections,
enhances learning as well as education of disabilities and capabilities,
and improves the quality of life for many people living with
disabilities. In addition to the video contest and Marketplace, CES
continues to feature the Innovation
Awards Accessible Tech
category and conference panels focused on
accessibility.
