Educational Liberty for Chicago Families on National School Choice Week Event Agenda

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–The Heartland Institute is capping off National School Choice Week with
a forum on education reform focused on the needs of children and
parents, not the public education system.

The free event, open to the public and the press, will take place on
Saturday, January 30 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at The Heartland Institute in
Arlington Heights, Illinois. It is timed to coincide with National
School Choice Week (January 24–30, 2016), during which organizations
across the country will host the largest series of educationrelated
events in U.S. history.

Heartland’s event will include a panel discussion on how education
choice benefits all students across Chicago, its suburbs, and the entire
country. The keynote speech will be given by former congressman and
current AM 560 The Answer radio personality Joe Walsh. State Rep. Tom
Morrison will act as master of ceremonies. Panelists on education choice
will include Bruno Behrend, senior fellow at The Heartland Institute,
Sister Mary Paul McCaughey of the Chicago Archdiocese, and other local
education experts.

“Every child deserves access to quality education. No child should be
required to attend a failing school based on his or her zip code,” said
Joseph Bast, president of The Heartland Institute. “This forum is an
effort to raise awareness of the need for parental choice. We are proud
to be a part of National School Choice Week to voice this critical
message.”

Nearly 100 parents, activists, teachers, elected officials, and
superintendents are expected to attend the event.
