Impulse Group United Stands with Orlando

LOS ANGELES–(BUSINESS WIRE)–#OneCommunity–Impulse Group was formed to give the community the ability to be in
charge of its own health and wellness. Six years later, sixteen cities
worldwide have risen up to be a movement by the community for the
community. The last week has seen some of the darkest times the GLBTQ
community has ever faced, but in the days following the tragedy at Pulse
Nightclub, we have seen great resilience from the community of Orlando.

Impulse Group Orlando launched in 2015 and has grown to become a part of
the gay community of Orlando, providing not only engaging social events,
but promoting regular HIV/STI testing and services to those most at
risk. A beacon in the GLBTQ community, Pulse opened its doors to Impulse
Group Orlando and has been a key supporter of the cause, hosting
activations to promote both community engagement and free HIV testing on
site to disproportionately affected demographics. This past March,
Impulse Group Orlando partnered with Pulse to activate a
first-of-its-kind testing night geared toward the Latino community. The

The last week has provided a new challenge that Impulse never expected
to be faced with, but Impulse Group Orlando, a group that volunteers its
time, did not hesitate to begin working with the community to assist
where help was needed. In addition to manpower throughout the week,
Impulse Group Orlando worked with its primary benefactor, AIDS
Healthcare Foundation, to deploy mobile testing vans, traditionally used
for rapid HIV and STI testing, to help with blood donation. The
multi-chapter governing board, Impulse Group United, has made over
$10,000 in monetary donations. In addition, Impulse Group Orlando will
be covering the expenses for additional security at the GLBT Community
Center of Central Florida, a community safe space for GLBTQ residents of
Orlando.

“As the community continues to rebuild in the wake of these tragic
events, Impulse Orlando will continue to stand with the community and
work with the city to aid efforts of recovery for the victims, their
families, and Orlando as a whole,” said Corey Lyons, President of
Impulse Group Orlando.
