IRI’s Jamil Satchu to Discuss Benefits of Precise and Strategic Demand Due Diligence During Capital Roundtable Keynote

Jamil Satchu, partner and practice leader, Strategic
Analytics, IRI

During his keynote presentation at Capital Roundtable’s Private
Equity Investing in Food & Nutrition Companies conference, “Drive
Better Acquisition Decisions with More Precise Due Diligence,”

IRI’s Jamil Satchu will explore the key demand-side challenges
that private equity investors face when they evaluate the
attractiveness of a potential asset. He will also discuss how to
best maximize opportunities when considering the acquisition of a
consumer packaged goods (CPG) company or brand to drive new growth.

Many private equity firms and strategic investors in the CPG
industry are turning to acquisitions to access sustainable “pockets
of growth.” However, without highly detailed information, including
granular data, strategic growth experience and strategic
perspectives, acquisition decisions can be made with an incomplete
understanding of the attractiveness and sustainability of the
company or brand. As a result, acquiring companies can overpay by as
much as 25 percent or underbid and lose altogether the ability to
acquire the asset.
Effectively executed demand due diligence helps companies avoid
acquisitions that fall short of expectations and also alerts
managers that they may need to increase a bid to win in a
competitive environment. Knowing where to look for new growth and
thoroughly evaluating how an acquisition targets future demand
potential are two key ways to implement an effective acquisition
