LATINA Style ranks Prudential Financial as a top company for Hispanic women

Magazine cites military recruiting, mentoring and increasing number of Latina employees

Prudential Financial Inc. was recognized among the elite companies providing career opportunities for Latinas in the United States. Prudential placed sixth among LATINA Style’s 2014

list of the top 50 U.S. companies for Latinas, up from eighth a year ago and was selected for the 17th consecutive year. The company was cited for its increase in Latina employees, recruiting from the military and, among other things, mentoring and training programs. The magazine evaluated more than 800 companies to select the 2014 LATINA Style 50.

“This award reflects the diverse and inclusive culture of Prudential,” said Michele Green, vice president and chief diversity officer for Prudential, who accepted the award at the 17th annual LATINA Style Awards Lunch and Diversity Leaders Conference held last week in Washington, D.C. “We believe that our approach to diversity and inclusion is a strategic growth driver for us. Diversity and inclusion is integrated into the way that we do business, the way we support diverse communities and the way we recruit, develop and engage our employees.”

Prudential was also recently recognized by HispanicBusiness, which named Prudential one of the Best Companies for Diversity. Prudential ranked 15th, up from 34th a year earlier. Prudential has placed on the HispanicBusiness list every year since 2005, the first year the magazine published its list.

LATINA Style also recognized Prudential for actively seeking and promoting Latinas, its supplier diversity program and its employee resource group, the Hispanic Heritage Network, which since 1993 has sought Latino workers and supported their professional and personal development.

Last year, Prudential launched two surveys – the inaugural Hispanic American Financial Experience

and the seventh bi-annual Financial Experience and Behavior Among Women. Both are part of a series of signature research by the company examining financial trends in America’s diverse communities. The surveys measure financial trends and attitudes in women and other diverse communities.

“Prudential is in the business of people and we understand that inclusion is smart business,” said Green. “To get the best ideas from employees of all backgrounds requires creating a company culture that allows people to bring the best of themselves every day. We know that is the secret to winning in the marketplace.”

“The LATINA Style 50 Report is the most exhaustive study of corporate America’s policies and opportunities for Latinas in the workplace,” said Robert E. Bard, president and CEO of LATINA Style, Inc. “The companies listed on the report are the ones that truly are the best places for Latina professionals to work.”
