Leading Ride Service for Kids, HopSkipDrive, Launches in Orange County to Bring Transportation Solution to Even More Families

The industry leader was the first to fingerprint all drivers and now
becomes the first to expand out of its original market

LOS ANGELES–(BUSINESS WIRE)–#OrangeCounty–Today, HopSkipDrive (www.HopSkipDrive.com),
the ride service that helps parents get their kids where they need to go
safely and reliably, announced it has expanded its service to Orange
County, the third most populated county in California (U.S. Census). As
the first ride service for kids to expand into a second major market,
HopSkipDrive continues to build on its category leadership, quickly
becoming the go-to solution for busy parents throughout Southern

Since launching in Los Angeles one year ago, HopSkipDrive has seen
strong adoption, delivering tens of thousands of rides with hundreds of
active CareDrivers on the platform.

“Orange County is a natural extension for us, as Orange County residents
spend 80 hours in traffic each year and 52.2% of local families have
children under 17 years old,” said Joanna McFarland, co-founder and
chief executive officer of HopSkipDrive. “The daily struggle of getting
kids to and from school, extracurricular activities and more while
sitting in that dreaded traffic is a real pain point for many Orange
County parents that we can help solve.”

HopSkipDrive was co-founded by McFarland, Carolyn Yashari Becher and
Janelle McGlothlin, who as busy, safety-obsessed parents themselves,
experienced firsthand the frustration of not being able to get their
children to all of their activities. “We created HopSkipDrive to solve
this real challenge for our own families. As moms, safety is our top
priority. That’s why we built the most stringent safety standards into
the service. After all, our kids use HopSkipDrive regularly, too,” notes
McFarland. CareDrivers go through an intensive 15-point certification
process, including requiring a minimum of 5 years of childcare
experience, background checks, fingerprinting, a clean driving record
and an in-person meeting with the HopSkipDrive team. Parents can monitor
every ride in real time through HopSkipDrive’s app, and are notified
when their children arrive safely at the designated destination.

Families can schedule rides for loved ones age six and older online or
through the HopSkipDrive app. Rides must be scheduled at least eight
hours in advance. Once the ride is matched to a CareDriver, parents
receive a picture and bio to share with their rider. Whether it’s
getting kids to school, shuttling them to tutoring or sports practice,
or picking them up from a party on the weekend, HopSkipDrive has become
a trusted solution for thousands of families.
