Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital Stanford Named to U.S. News & World Report’s 2016-17 Best Children’s Hospitals Honor Roll

The only children’s hospital in Northern California and one of just
three on the West Coast to achieve the prestigious Honor Roll status

STANFORD, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–In the U.S. News & World Report 2016-17 Best Children’s Hospitals survey online
today
, Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital Stanford has again
received top honors. The Bay Area’s largest health care enterprise
exclusively dedicated to children and expectant mothers earned Best
Children’s Hospital Honor Roll status, making it the top ranked
children’s hospital in Northern California. Eleven children’s hospitals
nationwide were recognized for exceptional performance in specialized,
high-complexity patient care. To achieve the Honor Roll, hospitals must
have at least three specialties that rank in the top ten percent.

The U.S. News Best Children’s Hospitals rankings help parents select the
best medical care for their children. This year, 183 facilities
participated in the survey, which ranks the top 50 centers in 10
specialties. Packard Children’s achieved rankings in all ten pediatric
specialties. Three of those specialty programs were ranked in the top 10
nationally: Cardiology
& Heart Surgery at #5, Nephrology
at #5 and Pulmonology
at #7. The three programs rank highest in California and for cardiology
and pulmonology, also best on the West Coast. Rankings rely on clinical
data and on an annual survey of pediatric specialists, full results and
methodology are available here.

This is the 12th consecutive year Lucile Packard Children’s
Hospital has been recognized by U.S. News & World Report. The Silicon
Valley-based hospital celebrates its 25th anniversary this
June, making it the youngest hospital to earn this year’s Honor Roll
distinction. On average, each of the other hospitals recognized on the
Honor Roll have been open for well over 100 years.

“These outstanding rankings in our hospital’s 25th
anniversary are a testament to the extraordinary standard of care that
our faculty, physicians and staff are known for,” said Christopher
G. Dawes
, president and chief executive officer.

“This year’s Honor Roll recognizes 11 pediatric centers for their
commitment to top-quality care for kids in multiple specialties,” said
U.S. News Health Rankings Editor Avery Comarow.

Lloyd Minor, MD, dean of the Stanford University School of Medicine,
said, “This distinct honor is a direct result of the hard work of our
talented and compassionate providers for children and expectant
mothers. We at Stanford Medicine are extremely pleased to again see
Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital Stanford recognized by U.S. News for
delivering the highest levels of patient care excellence.”

Dawes agreed. “It’s a tribute to the Stanford Medicine expertise and
training,” said Dawes, noting that the U.S. News annual rankings are a
source of pride across the organization. “This is an exciting time.
We’ve evolved into a comprehensive health care system and are looking
forward to the 2017 debut of our expanded pediatric and obstetric
hospital campus. Together, we’re changing the way health care is
delivered.”
