McCann’s Irish Oatmeal® Announces Expansion of its Steel Cut Irish Oatmeal Product Portfolio

Three New Product Lines Available to Meet Consumers’ Changing Needs

OAK BROOK, Ill.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Warming the hearts, minds and souls of the most discriminating oatmeal
lovers for more than 150 years, McCann’s Irish Oatmeal® announces the
addition of three new product lines to its Steel Cut Irish Oatmeal
portfolio: McCann’s Traditional Steel Cut Irish Oatmeal®
Gluten-Free; Non-GMO Certified McCann’s Steel Cut Irish Oatmeal
®;
and McCann’s® Quick & Easy Steel Cut Irish Oats Single Serve
Microwavable Cups.

“The expansion of McCann’s Steel Cut Irish Oatmeal product portfolio is
our response to the evolving food preferences and needs of consumers,”
said Tom Perlstein, Director-Branded Marketing, Bay Valley Foods, LLC (a
TreeHouse Foods company). “While awareness and demand continue to grow
for options like non-GMO or gluten-free foods, there aren’t many of
these selections available for steel cut oatmeal.”

McCann’s Irish Oatmeal Gluten-Free®

McCann’s Irish Oatmeal’s Gluten-Free option is available in the
28-ounce McCann’s Traditional Steel Cut Irish Oatmeal Tin and McCann’s
Quick & Easy Steel Cut Irish Oatmeal® (both the 24-ounce Canister and
16-ounce Box). McCann’s Quick & Easy Steel Cut Irish Oatmeal® has the
same whole grain goodness as its classic steel cut oatmeal option but
cooks in just five minutes.

“Consumers who have difficulty digesting gluten should not have to
compromise texture or taste to meet their dietary and lifestyle needs.
McCann’s Traditional Steel Cut Irish Oatmeal in a gluten-free formula
offers rich texture and nutty flavor for those looking to satisfy a 100
percent gluten-free diet,” added Perlstein.

Non-GMO Certified McCann’s Irish Oatmeal®

The demand for non-GMO products continues to rise. McCann’s Irish
Oatmeal has earned its first non-GMO Certification from the Non-GMO
Project
for three of its core products — Steel Cut Irish Oatmeal in
the 28-ounce Tin, Quick & Easy Steel Cut Irish Oatmeal in the 24-ounce
Canister, and Quick Cooking Rolled Oats in the 16-ounce Box. McCann’s
Steel Cut Irish Oatmeal is produced using a number of best
practices
that not only supported its efforts to obtain Non-GMO
Project verification, but also instill consumer confidence in its
products. There is minimal processing, nothing artificial and it is made
from 100 percent whole grain Irish oats.

About McCann’s Irish Oatmeal

Since the 1800s, McCann’s Irish Oatmeal has been warming the hearts,
minds and souls of the most discriminating oatmeal lovers. The story of
McCann’s Irish Oatmeal dates back to 1800 when John McCann built a mill
at Beamond, 4 miles from Drogheda on the East Coast of Ireland. In the
early part of the century, exports of McCann’s Irish Oatmeal increased
enabling the inhabitants of New York, Boston, Philadelphia, Detroit, San
Francisco, Montreal and Vancouver to enjoy the distinctive, nutty flavor
of Steel Cut Irish Oats. In 1964, family-owned Odlums Group acquired
John McCann’s business and transferred production to its own oatmeal
mill, which had been in operation since 1910. In 2008, Sturm Foods
acquired the McCann’s Irish Oatmeal brand, and in 2010 TreeHouse
Foods
acquired Sturm Foods.
