Miami Beach Endocrinologist Collaborates to Educate Patients on Bone Health

MIAMI–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Miami
Beach Community Health Center
(MBCHC) board certified
endocrinologist Dr. Ramon E. Martinez recently collaborated with the Hormone
Health Network
in developing content on osteoporosis and bone health
for their Bone
Health Digital Toolkit
. The
Endocrine Society
’s Hormone Health Network is the nation’s endocrine
patient education resource.

Dr. Martinez, Executive Vice President of Medical Education and Research
at MBCHC, completed medical school in Caracas, Venezuela and continued
his medical training in Internal Medicine at Mount Sinai Medical Center
in Miami Beach. Subsequently, he did a Geriatric & Gerontology
fellowship at the University of Miami, and finally an Endocrinology,
Diabetes & Metabolism fellowship at Beth Israel Medical Center in New
York City. Dr. Martinez is board certified in all three specialties.
During his endocrinology fellowship, Dr. Martinez was selected for, and
completed with distinction, the “Preceptorial in Metabolic Bone
Diseases” at Columbia University in New York.

At MBCHC, Dr. Martinez has been principal investigator on more than 10
endocrine-related studies ranging from diabetes to hypercholesterolemia.
As part of the administrative team at MBCHC, Dr. Martinez is leading the
effort to improve diabetes comprehensive care, hypercholesterolemia
treatment, fall prevention, and osteoporosis screening. He has helped
MBCHC become the top Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) in Florida
and one of the top in the nation in quality measures for diabetes.
