More Than 96% of Universal American’s Medicare Advantage Membership is Enrolled in 4-Star Plans

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Universal American Corp. (NYSE:UAM) announced today more than 96% of its
Medicare Advantage members are currently enrolled in plans awarded 4
Stars from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) for 2016.
All of its plans in Southeast Texas (Houston/Beaumont) and the Northeast
were awarded 4 Stars reflecting the quality care delivered to enrolled
Medicare beneficiaries. CMS has reported that approximately 65% of all
Medicare Advantage members are enrolled in plans with four or more stars
for 2016.

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) evaluates Medicare
Advantage plans based on a 5-star rating system in several categories,
including quality of care and customer service. The overall rating
provides a way for Medicare beneficiaries, their families, and
caregivers to compare performance among several plans. Star ratings are
posted at the Federal government’s website — www.medicare.gov.
