Navigant Named Best Place to Work for LGBT Equality for Seventh Consecutive Year

Firm earns a perfect score on 2016 Corporate Equality Index

CHICAGO–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Navigant (NYSE: NCI) earned its seventh consecutive perfect score on the
Human Rights Campaign Foundation’s annual scorecard for Lesbian, Gay,
Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) equality. The Human
Rights Campaign Foundation’s Corporate Equality Index
(CEI) is a
national benchmarking tool of corporate policies and practices related
to workplace quality.

“Navigant’s values are built around the belief that integrity, respect
and excellence are key to ensuring our enduring prosperity and success.
Being recognized as a Best Place to Work for LGBT Equality for the
seventh consecutive year is a great example of the commitment Navigant’s
5,000 global employees have made to our values,” said Julie Howard,
Chairman and CEO at Navigant. “Embracing different experiences,
backgrounds, and perspectives benefits our employees, our clients, and
our entire firm.”

This honor cements Navigant’s commitment to being an employer of choice
for LGBT professionals. In 2015, Navigant championed several activities
to foster a progressive work environment, create awareness, support an
open exchange of ideas, encourage a collaborative culture and understand
the needs of its colleagues and clients:

  • In April 2015, Navigant’s Chairman and CEO, Julie Howard signed HRC’s “Equality
    is Our Business
” statement on behalf of Navigant, which takes a
stand against bills that allow individuals and businesses to
discriminate against LGBT and other minorities.
  • Navigant took a stand in support of the Houston Equal Rights Ordinance
    (HERO) through Twitter (here).
  • Navigant’s LGBTA (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Allies)
Employee Resource Group (ERG) celebrated National Pride Month in June
by sponsoring a trolley and participating in Chicago’s Pride Parade.
  • The firm also hosted presentations on hot topics, including The
Road to the Supreme Court: A Conversation with Jim Obergefell,
    the
named plaintiff in the Supreme Court’s marriage equality case, Obergefell
    v. Hodges
    .
  • Additionally, Navigant offices across the globe championed local
Diversity & Inclusion activities by sponsoring informational events,
including webinars, movie screenings and office gatherings with a
focus on cultural education and differences.

The 2016 CEI rated 1,027 businesses in the report, which evaluates
LGBT-related policies and practices including non-discrimination
workplace protections, domestic partner benefits, transgender-inclusive
health care benefits, competency programs, and public engagement with
the LGBT community. Navigant’s efforts in satisfying all of the CEI’s
criteria resulted in a 100 percent ranking and the designation as a Best
Place to Work for LGBT Equality.

“I am proud to work for a company that has such high diversity and
inclusion standards,” said Steve Huffines, director within Navigant’s
Valuation & Financial Risk Management practice and co-leader of the
firm’s LGBTA Employee Resource Group. “As today’s business community
becomes increasingly diverse, heightened awareness as well as an
understanding of multiple beliefs and cultures is critical to a firm’s
success. Navigant has done a great job creating and maintaining an
educated and inclusive working environment.”
