New Cheese Shop from the Owners of Marcel’s Culinary Experience Opens in Glen Ellyn, Ill.; Marché Offers Dine In, Take Out, Classes, Private Events, Catering

GLEN ELLYN, Ill.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Marché,
a cheese shop from the owners of Marcel’s
Culinary Experience
, has opened at 496 N. Main St. in historic
downtown Glen Ellyn, Ill.

Located just three doors north of the award-winning
specialty food retail store and cooking school, Marché sells a curated
and evolving collection of artisan cheese, charcuterie, wine, craft
beers, spirits and complementary items. There are cheese plates to eat
in or take out, cheese
and charcuterie boards
for parties and special occasions, and gift
boxes
that can be shipped anywhere in the United States.

“Since we opened Marcel’s in 2011, our customers have expressed interest
in cheese and other perishable items that they can combine with our
specialty food products to create family meals, or use for
entertaining,” said Jill Foucré, who with her husband Bob Bye owns both
businesses.

“In 2014 we added The Market, an in-store area at Marcel’s devoted to
cheeses, specialty dairy, charcuterie, bread, wine and nonalcoholic
beverages. Marché evolved from that popular concept, and carries a
completely different product line,” she said.

Marché is situated on a busy corner just two blocks from the Glen Ellyn
Metra stop. There is seating for eight along the sunny window, and
outdoor tables will be added next spring.

“Customers can choose from the day’s menu of cheeses and charcuterie,
pair it with a craft beer or glass of wine, and relax at a table. Or the
staff can prepare a cheese plate to go,” said Daniel Sirko, Marché
general manager.

A longtime Chicago area specialty food and restaurant manager, Sirko
previously worked with Kaufman’s Delicatessen, Birchwood Kitchen,
Pastoral Artisan Cheese, Bread and Wine, and Fox & Obel Food Market.

He oversees all operations for the cozy 950-square-foot Marché space
that can be reserved for private classes, guided tastings and other
events involving up to 25 people.

Sirko, a member of the American
Cheese Society
and former judge at its annual
competition
, is teaching four
classes
at Marché in November and December to widen participants’
knowledge of all things fromage. Topics of the 90-minute classes
– open to the public, $30-$45 each with plenty of sampling — range from
the basics of cheese to how to create a cheese board to pairing
beverages (beer, sparkling wine) with cheese.

Marché can cater large and small groups, including corporate events.
Options include wine and cheese welcome bags, personalized cheese and
charcuterie tables, even custom-layered “cheese cakes” suitable for
wedding receptions.

With the year-end holidays approaching, Marché can provide cheese and
charcuterie boards for parties, gift cards and gift boxes. Gift-givers
can present the lucky food lovers on their list with subscriptions
for regular mailings of specially selected cheeses and optional paired
bottles of wine.

Store hours are Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.;
Thursday 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Saturday 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Sunday noon to 5
p.m.; closed Monday.
