OmniTRAX Hosting Sweethearts & Heroes Anti-bullying Assembly at Windsor and Denver Middle Schools

DENVER–(BUSINESS WIRE)–OmniTRAX, Inc., one of the largest privately held rail and
transportation service companies in North America and an affiliate of
The Broe Group, is sponsoring anti-bullying programs at schools in
Windsor and Denver this week. The assemblies, at Windsor Middle School
in Windsor and Merrill Middle School in Denver, are to be presented by
Sweethearts & Heroes, a non-profit group focused on helping make life
better for today’s students.

“Giving back to the communities where we operate is very important to
everyone at OmniTRAX and The Broe Group, especially when the effort
addresses critical issues like bullying in schools. We plan to continue
supporting assemblies like Sweethearts & Heroes and other programs that
help kids make better decisions,” said Bill Kelly, Vice President of
Safety and Operational Excellence for OmniTRAX.

In their presentation, Sweethearts & Heroes’ Tom Murphy and Jason
Spector give students an important message about tolerance, awareness of
bullying and most importantly, an action plan for when bullying happens.
Their goal is to help foster a school climate where kids refuse to let
bullying happen. In addition, Rick Yarosh, a retired sergeant with the
United States Army injured in Iraq with burns over most of his body,
gives a message is one of overcoming adversity and turning a negative
situation into a positive one.

“Just talking about awareness doesn’t fix anything,” says Murphy, a
husband and father who competed on the second season of Spike TV’s The
Ultimate Fighter. “What separates us from other anti-bullying
presentations and projects is that we have the plan to curb and even
stop bullying in your school, or wherever it exists for you.”

Said Spector: “We offer a very unique perspective on bullying and leave
audiences with an ABC action plan to fight bullying. Bullying isn’t the
problem. Bullies have been around forever. The problem is we don’t have
enough Sweethearts and Heroes in the world.”

“We appreciate OmniTRAX and The Broe Group for sponsoring this great
program on an increasingly important subject,” said Jim Osborn,
assistant principal at Windsor Middle School. “The Sweethearts & Heroes
assembly provides our students with usable strategies to actively
mitigate, and hopefully eliminate an undesirable behavior.”

Amy Bringedahl, principal of Merrill Middle School added; “It is also
essential that our students understand the impact of their decision and
how to face debilitating challenges. Having Sgt. Yarosh share his
experiences is both poignant and uplifting.”
