OpenEd and Gooru Incorporate Cleverywhere’s Innovative “Anytime, Anywhere” Role Play Gaming Platform to Address the Learning Style of Generation Z Students as a Strategy to Improve Standardized Testing Outcomes

SAN JOSE, Calif. & REDWOOD CITY, Calif. & NEW YORK–(BUSINESS WIRE)–#Cleverywhere–Two online K-12 educational teaching and assessment companies, OpenEd
and Gooru,
will partner with Cleverywhere,
an innovative edutech gaming company to address the changing learning
styles of students of Generation Z (7 – 21 years of age). Cleverywhere’s
ThemePark role playing game will be incorporated into their respective
platforms later this year.

“The connection of gaming and learning is innate for young students,”
said Adam Blum, CEO and Founder of OpenEd. “The data from our
assessments consistently shows that games are more impactful in
improving student outcomes than less interactive resources. We are
particularly thrilled to add the high quality games from Cleverywhere
into our library.”

“Students today, rich or poor, are born with a smartphone in their
hand,” said Prasad Ram, PhD, CEO and Founder of Gooru. “The connection
of technology and learning is innate for young students. Gooru is taking
the first step to bring new tools and student-centered learning to
engage students on their terms while continuing to provide the real-time
learning navigator Gooru is known for.”

According to a report by the Games and Learning Publishing Council,
funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, 74 percent of teachers
in grades K-8 report using digital games for instruction. Of those, 71
percent have seen a significant improvement in their students’ math
scores, as a result of the games.

Cleverywhere, designer of ThemePark, brings online interactive
educational gaming to a new level by blending outcome-based learning
with standardized testing prep in a fun, adventure-style game with
easy-to-use analytics.

“ThemePark has received strong support from teachers and students,” said
Clancy Marshall, founder of Cleverywhere. “It made sense for OpenEd and
Gooru to work with us, as they share our goal of formative assessment
for students and detailed analytics for teachers.”

Gooru is a non-profit dedicated to delivering innovative technology to
positively impact learning and honor the human right to education.

OpenEd, an ACT Assessment Technologies company, is the only K-12
educational resource library focused on aligning resources to learning
objectives.
