PrescribeMedicare Helps Pharmacists Keep Their Patients Healthier

First 1,000 community pharmacies adopt the new solution to help
seniors navigate 2016 Medicare open enrollment and improve their
medication adherence

IRVINE, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–PrescribeWellness,
the cloud-based services company whose mission is to inspire
collaboration for better health, recently announced the launch of
PrescribeMedicare and already has 1,000 pharmacies enrolled.

PrescribeMedicare was made possible through the collective vision of
leaders from several of the industry’s largest and most forward-thinking
Pharmacy Services Administrative Organizations, including American
Pharmacy Network Solutions
(APNS). APNS member pharmacies were among
the first community pharmacy locations to adopt the PrescribeMedicare
solution.

PrescribeMedicare empowers the community pharmacist – working in tandem
with their patients – to tackle the medication adherence issue for
Medicare-eligible seniors. “Medicare beneficiaries who are on an
inappropriate Medicare Advantage or prescription drug plan may be asked
to pay for medications they cannot afford. Recent studies on medication
non-adherence with Medicare patients have demonstrated that financial
challenges are primary influencers,” said Tony Thuyen, Chief Strategy
Officer and Co-Founder of PrescribeWellness. “PrescribeMedicare is
another way we are helping the pharmacist resolve medication
non-adherence with high-value patients.”

The solution helps pharmacists provide a value-added service for their
Medicare-eligible patient population and manage their own business more
effectively. Pharmacists have the ability to compare prescription drug
plans using the patient’s specific prescription regimen and share that
analysis directly with the patient. The comparison includes a financial
breakdown that will help beneficiaries select a plan that will work best
with their budget.

“We are excited that PrescribeMedicare provides us the opportunity to
work with our patients and present them with prescription drug plans
that work in conjunction with their current medications,” shared Larry
Hadley, RPh, Owner of Wayne’s Pharmacy in Frankfort, KY. “By sharing the
monthly financial impact to our patients, we believe that they will
improve their medication adherence tremendously.”

PrescribeWellness has selected the first week of November as the
company’s first annual National Enrollment Week. During that time,
PrescribeWellness will encourage and empower all of their pharmacies to
share Medicare Advantage and Medicare Part D options with their
Medicare-eligible patients. This nationwide event is geared toward the
providers who are interested in helping their patients find the right
plan based on their specific medications.

PrescribeWellness offers innovative technological solutions designed to
elevate the community pharmacist’s role in providing coordinated care
and preventative healthcare services. Their software makes it easier for
pharmacies to improve customer loyalty, generate additional pharmacy
revenue and provide extended services via the appointment-based model.
PrescribeWellness solutions have been proven to improve a patient’s
adherence to their medication and the pharmacy’s ratings in various
performance measures.
