Registration for Michelson Found Animals’ Fourth Annual “Saving Pets Challenge” Now Open

Annual fundraiser encourages pet programs nationwide to
compete together in an effort to reduce shelter euthanasia and save
lives-

LOS ANGELES–(BUSINESS WIRE)–#SavingpetschallengeThe
Michelson Found Animals Foundation
, Inc. is excited to announce that
registration is open for the fourth annual Michelson Found Animals
Saving Pets Challenge. The competition will begin on Tuesday, May 2,
2017 at 12:00pm EDT, and concludes on Thursday, June 1, 2017 at
1:59:59pm EDT. During the thirty-one day competition, hosted on the
charitable fundraising platform, CrowdRise,
animal welfare organizations will use a variety of traditional and
non-traditional efforts to rally their supporters and raise money for
the ultimate goal of saving pets.

Last year, over 600 organizations participated and nearly
$1.3 million dollars
was raised for shelter animals. Since its
inception, the Saving Pets Challenge has raised more than $4 million
dollars.

The top five groups that raise the most money during the 2017 Saving
Pets Challenge will be rewarded with cash grants from Michelson Found
Animals, totaling $115,000. In addition to the grand prize cash grants
there are weekly Bonus Challenges totaling $35,000, designed to
encourage participation throughout the challenge no matter the rankings.

“Even though we are a small organization, the toolkit provided made it
very easy for us to stay in the running with the bigger organizations,”
said Ann Dunn, Executive Director of Cat Town. “With our 2016 prize
winnings, we’ve been able to invest more into our adoption center and
foster program than ever before.”

Michelson Found Animals encourages all animal welfare organizations, who
share in our mission to keep pets out of shelters, to apply for the
Challenge. Last year, Cat Town, a small non-profit based in Oakland,
California finished in fifth place raising $58,875 and was rewarded a
cash grant of $5,000. Since launching in 2011, Cat Town has rescued
nearly 1,600 cats, and helped reduce the shelter’s euthanasia rate from
42% in 2011 to nearly 10% today.

“Once again, we’re looking for animal shelters, rescue groups and
spay/neuter clinics, big and small, old and new, to join us this year,”
said Gilbreath. “The more groups we have, the more money we can raise to
save the animals and make a difference. And, everyone has a chance to
win.”

Eligibility restrictions apply, for more information on application for
the 2017 Challenge visit www.crowdrise.com/SPC2017.

free microchip registry, we now have our own adoption centers, research
next generation spay/neuter technology, and sell affordable high quality
products—all in the service of pets. Our unique perspective into all
aspects of animal welfare allows us to better support pet owners and pet
professionals alike. All of this is possible thanks to generous funding
