Research Documents Majority of Americans Have Positive Opinion of Chiropractic Care, Reports F4CP

HASBROUCK HEIGHTS, N.J.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–#F4CP–According to research, an estimated eighty-three
percent
of chiropractic patients are satisfied or very satisfied
with the care provided by their doctor of chiropractic (DC). Experts at
the Foundation
for Chiropractic Progress
(F4CP), the voice of the chiropractic
profession, validate that the evidence-based chiropractic approach is
documented to yield improved clinical outcomes, high levels of patient
satisfaction and reduced costs.

“Patient utilization of chiropractic care continues to increase in
the U.S. – largely the result of the effectiveness of chiropractic care
and high patient satisfaction levels,” states Sherry McAllister, DC,
executive vice president, F4CP. “In fact, the level of comfort and
confidence expressed with the services provided by a DC improves
with greater awareness to the conservative and non-pharmaceutical care
provided by a doctor of chiropractic.”

Patient satisfaction with chiropractic care is well-documented. A BMC
Musculoskeletal Disorders
study
on upper cervical chiropractic care for neck pain, headaches, mid-back,
and low back pain concludes that 9.1 out of 10 patients indicate a very
high level of patient satisfaction. In another study
of North Carolina patients
seeking treatment for acute low back pain
from various health care professionals (primary care physicians,
chiropractors, orthopedic surgeons, etc.) researchers found that those
who visited a chiropractor had a higher degree of satisfaction in the
care they received.

In comparison to medical patients, additional research validates
chiropractic patients are more satisfied with their health care
after just four weeks. Furthermore, 56
percent
of patients who saw a chiropractor reported that their low
back pain was better or much better, whereas a significant number of
medical patients reported their low back pain was worse or much
worse. Additionally, research notes
that more than half of U.S. adults articulate positive opinions about
doctors of chiropractic (DC) and consider them to be effective at
managing neck and back pain.

“The high level of patient satisfaction linked to chiropractic
care confirms why Americans communicate confidence in the care provided
by a DC,” continues Dr. McAllister. “Despite this growth, many adults
have never been to a DC to schedule a consultation and become one step
closer to receiving the safe and effective care that they deserve.”

Doctors of chiropractic – who receive a minimum of seven years of higher
level education – are primary care professionals for spinal health and
well-being, and specialize in drug-free, hands-on diagnosis and
management of acute and chronic neuro-musculoskeletal conditions.
