RippleNami Produces Map of Need for United Kingdom’s Veterans

Map eases access to services for 5 million United Kingdom’s Veterans
and Family Members

NEWCASTLE, England–(BUSINESS WIRE)–#AfricaRippleNami,
Inc.
, provider of a blockchain, map-based data visualization
platform accessed via the cloud, proudly announced today that, together
with Northumbria University in Newcastle, England, it has been selected
by the United Kingdom’s (U.K.) Ministry of Defence’s Covenant Fund to
produce a comprehensive map of health and social care needs for its
nearly three million veterans located throughout the U.K. RippleNami
will work with Northumbria University’s Northern Hub for Veterans and
Military Families to deliver an interactive map bearing up-to-date
strategic information that will aid in planning and resource allocation,
while connecting veterans and their families with critical resources.

Veterans transitioning from service to those at the end of their life
face the daunting challenge of locating and accessing the services and
resources they and their families need to thrive. This includes
locations of hospitals, substance abuse clinics, education centers,
financial assistance, employment assistance, housing and shelters – all
of the services that veterans and their families desperately need and
deserve. Likewise, charitable organizations serving veterans do not have
visibility into their veteran population in terms of the type and
location of services most needed.

“We are delighted to work with RippleNami on this U.K. first. They have
a strong track record in the field and are confident that this project
will be a huge benefit to veterans and also to those who commission and
provide services for them by providing a comprehensive map of all
available veterans’ services throughout the U.K., as well as an accurate
picture of the ongoing health and social care needs of our veteran
population,” said Dr. Matt Kiernan, Associate Professor of Mental Health
and Veteran Studies at Northumbria University and a former Lieutenant
Commander in the Queen Alexandra’s Royal Naval Nursing Service. “This
vital information will enable us to better assess and understand their
needs so we can ensure services are being delivered.”

What is most unique about the cloud-based technology is its ability to
capture data as a by-product of a user looking for help. As a user
interacts with and searches for help on the map, the application records
every click by the user, providing an accurate record of what services
each user is looking for, with the coordinates of where they are
looking. The cumulative data produced by users, once analyzed, will
deliver up-to-date strategic information to the Ministry of Defense’s
Covenant Fund Team.

“RippleNami is committed to connecting unconnected veterans with
critical services they deserve and need to thrive. We are honored to
support Northumbria University to further their initiative of ensuring
veterans and their families gain access to the resources they need,”
said Jaye Connolly-LaBelle, RippleNami President and Chief Executive
Officer. “To further this effort, we have opened an office in Newcastle,
England, to continue our mission of improving the world through social
good.”

About Northumbria University

The Northern Hub for Veterans and Military Families Research is a
research centre that has established strong collaboration between
academics, service providers and service users with an interest in
improving the health and social wellbeing of veterans and their families
across the life span. The hub has been developed by Dr. Matthew Kiernan
and Dr. Mick Hill and has attained a credible track record in successful
collaboration with state and third-sector providers invested in the
health and wellbeing of military veterans and their families. The
Northern Hub currently holds two substantial research grants from the
Covenant Fund and the Royal British Legion (RBL). The covenant-funded
aged veterans’ limbless study is currently six months ahead of schedule
and we will complete the RBL study in May of this year. Both of these
studies will have the potential for significant impact on the health and
social care of veterans. As noted above, the Northern Hub exists as part
of Northumbria University, and as such is subject the wider university
governance process. For more information about Northumbria University,
