San Jacinto Day Festival and Battle Reenactment Presented by H-E-B

HOUSTON–(BUSINESS WIRE)–The admission-free San Jacinto Day Festival is full of entertainment,
pageantry, food, and fun set amidst living history on Saturday, April
23, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the San Jacinto Monument and San
Jacinto Battleground State Historic Site.

The centerpiece of the festival is the battle reenactment which begins
at 3 p.m. Booming cannons, musket fire and battle cries will resound
across the San Jacinto Battleground as hundreds of historical reenactors
recreate the decisive Battle of San Jacinto where Texas won its
independence from Mexico on April 21, 1836. Visitors can wander among
the Mexican and Texian camps before and after the reenactment to
experience how the soldiers and families lived that historical day.

Activities at the festival, sponsored by the San Jacinto Museum of
History Association, include:

• Free admission, parking and shuttles
• Nonstop entertainment on two stages
• Flying Flea Circus, Medicine Show and Chuck Wagon
• Birds of Prey and Texas Reptiles demonstrations
• Children’s train, petting zoo, camel and broncing bull rides
• Make-and-take activities, square dancers and archery lessons
• Exhibits by Texas history associations
• Historical re-enactors
• “A Destined Conflict: The U.S.-Mexican War” exhibition,
  collection of 2,000+ artifacts, screenings of Texas Forever! in
  the Jesse H. Jones Theater, and elevator rides to top of San Jacinto
  Monument (nominal fees)

Jacinto Museum of History, Texas Parks & Wildlife, San Jacinto

NOTE TO MEDIA: Media (only) can visit the Monument grounds on
Friday, April 22 as organizers set up the festival, with spokespersons
available to speak on the battle, reenactors, the museum and festival.
Reenactors can show their authentic period attire and camps; pyrotechnic
operators will prep the field and artillery. Campfires and a fiddler
will begin at 7 p.m.; special arrangements for period tents can be
provided to journalists who wish to embed with the soldiers Friday night
