School Fair Spotlights Education Choices for Children with Special Needs

BALTIMORE–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Information on dozens of schools and other resources will be on display
at an expo for families exploring school options for their children,
particularly children with special needs, on Sunday, January 24.

The school fair will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Weinberg Jewish
Community Center in Baltimore and will highlight educational options for
families in Baltimore City and County, including charter schools, magnet
schools, private special education schools, and home schooling. In
addition, information will be available on legislation proposed this
year related to parental educational choice and scholarships for private
schools.

Maryland Special Needs Advocacy Project and the Macks Center for Jewish
Education are hosting the event as a part of their mission to provide
free educational advocacy to families in the greater Baltimore area. The
school fair serves as a kickoff to National School Choice Week, a
weeklong celebration of education options for families across the
country.

“Children with special needs and their families often struggle through
the system without accessing the resources needed to address their
unique needs. By holding this school fair, we will empower parents and
connect them directly with people and programs that put their child
first,” said Martha Goodman, coordinator for the Maryland Special Needs
Advocacy Project.
