Event Spotlights Importance of Physician Leadership to Transform
American Health Care Delivery

WASHINGTON–(BUSINESS WIRE)–#accountablecare–Physician executives from The Council
of Accountable Physician Practices
(CAPP), a coalition of America’s
high-performing multispecialty medical groups and health systems, hosted
a panel entitled, “Developing Physician Leadership in the Movement to
Accountable Care,” at the CAPG Colloquium in Washington, D.C. The event,
held on September 29, focused on recruiting and developing effective
physician leaders who are able to facilitate the transformation of the
American healthcare system.

“It will not be possible to move the country toward accountable,
value-based care without strong physician leadership at all levels of
the organization,” said panel moderator Robert Pearl, M.D., Chairman of
CAPP, and CEO of the Permanente

The panel was inspired by CAPP’s recent five-article peer-reviewed
series on physician leadership published in Health
Care: The Journal of Delivery Science and Innovation
. In
addition to the panelists, physician executives from Virginia Mason
Medical Center, the Mayo Clinic Health System, Group Health
Physicians/Group Health Cooperative, Intermountain Medical Group,
Cleveland Clinic Regional Hospitals, DaVita HealthCare Partners, and
Henry Ford Medical Group contributed to the series.
