Spirits of the Americas Competition Accepting Applications

Third Annual Spirit Competition Presented by The IWSC Group

ATLANTA–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Registration for Spirits of the Americas is now open! Presented by The
IWSC Group’s North American division, Spirits of the Americas celebrates
the diversity and innovation of distilling across North, South and
Central America and the Caribbean by recognizing product excellence
across a broad range of categories. The Americas have a strong history
of regional spirits and have recently seen significant innovation with
the production of spirits in surprising places like vodka from Maine and
Argentina, gin from San Francisco or absinthe from Philadelphia.

The IWSC Group is the leader in organizing wine and spirit competitions
globally, including the illustrious International Wine & Spirit
Competition. In March 2015, The IWSC Group launched a North American
division, which now oversees the SOA competition.

“We’re thrilled to lead Spirits of the Americas, which has included
relocating the competition to Atlanta, recruiting a new panel of
highly-recognized judges and implementing judging procedures that align
more closely with the International Wine & Spirit Competition
standards,” explained Dominique Love, IWSC Group North America’s CEO.

Competition judges include Neal Bodenheimer, New Orleans, LA; Navarro
Carr, Atlanta, GA; Wayne Curtis, New Orleans, LA; H. Joseph Ehrmann, San
Francisco, CA; Alba Huerta, Austin, TX; and Todd Thrasher, Richmond, VA.

Any commercial spirit produced in the Americas (North, South and Central
America and the Caribbean) is eligible to participate in SOA. Product
samples are presented in flights in a blind competition and evaluated
based on criteria consistent with judging standards of the International
Wine & Spirit Competition.

Registration is $300 and closes Friday, October 23. Judging begins
Tuesday, November 3 and awards are announced Thursday, November 5. For
