The DP&L Foundation Awards $1.6 Million Dollars

Seven Signature Grants totaling more than half a million presented to
area partner organizations.

DAYTON, Ohio–(BUSINESS WIRE)–The Dayton Power and Light Company Foundation today is presenting
Signature Grants to seven area partner organizations. The Signature
Grants are part of 63 community grants totaling $1.6 million awarded by
the DP&L Foundation Board to non-profit organizations in 2015, one way
we make a difference.

DP&L is a part of the communities we serve. It’s not just where we work
– it’s where we live, play and raise families. Our customers are also
our neighbors, friends and fellow citizens. That’s a key reason DP&L is
committed to corporate citizenship. Through financial and volunteer
support, we invest in local organizations that enhance the quality of
life, drive economic growth and provide essential services.

For the third straight year, the DP&L Foundation is awarding Signature
Grants which allow non-profit organizations to request funding for
innovative projects, programs or capital improvements; these grants
range from $50,000 to $150,000.

The recipients of the most recent DP&L Foundation Signature Grants are:

  • Goodwill Easter Seals Miami Valley – $50,000 to support the new Miami
    Valley Works Program that engages the chronically unemployed to learn
    skills for the workplace to obtain and retain employment.
  • Rebuilding Together Dayton – $50,000 for the Seasonal Safe@Home
    Program, which provides seasonal repairs, homeowner education and
    volunteer opportunities to help low income elderly.
  • YWCA – $50,000 for the Teen Services and Girls Inc. programs and
    renovations to the Domestic Violence Shelter.
  • American Red Cross – $75,000 for maintaining emergency response and
    Disaster Services programs in the Dayton region, Northern Miami Valley
    and Clinton County.
  • Boonshoft Museum of Discovery – $100,000 for expanding educational
    facilities.
  • Dayton Children’s Hospital – $100,000 to contribute to the Reaching
    New Heights Capital Campaign to build a new patient care tower for
    critically ill infants, children and teens.
  • United Way of Greater Dayton – $150,000 to fund the Live United
    24/7/365 program in the areas of education, income and health.

Since 1985, The Dayton Power and Light Company Foundation has given in
excess of $34 million in grants. Annually, more than 200 DPL employees
volunteer their time and talents in community organizations and many
donate to United Way and food pantries through workplace giving.
