THIS WEEK: Education Options in Spotlight at 154 School Choice Week Events Across Idaho

Gov. Otter Joins 5 City and County Leaders in Issuing School
Choice Week Proclamations

BOISE, Idaho–(BUSINESS WIRE)–National School Choice Week begins today in Idaho and across the
country. There are 154 events planned in the Gem State to raise
awareness about K-12 school choice, and 21,392 events nationwide.

The events in Idaho, which are independently planned and independently
funded, include everything from information sessions and open houses at
schools to rallies, policy discussions, and movie screenings organized
by community groups. Highlighted events include a large rally January 23
at 9 a.m. at the Boise State Capitol.

The county of Benewah; cities of Bellevue, Chubback, Gooding, and
Kamiah; and Governor Otter have issued official proclamations
recognizing January 22-28, 2017 as “School Choice Week.”

National School Choice Week provides families in Idaho with the
opportunity to research and evaluate the K-12 school choices available
for their children in advance of the 2017-2018 school year. The Week
also raises awareness of the importance of providing every child with
effective education options.

“We look forward to turning the state’s attention to the importance of
an excellent education. There are so many fantastic schools, teachers,
and leaders in Idaho working tirelessly on behalf of Idaho students, and
we use this Week to thank them and highlight their hard work,” said
Terry Ryan of Bluum.

“National School Choice Week is a time of celebration in Idaho,” said
Andrew Campanella, president of National School Choice Week. “Parents,
teachers, and community leaders across the Gem State have worked hard to
increase access to effective education options for children, and as a
result, Idaho families have more school choice options for their
children than at any other time in history.”

With a goal of raising public awareness of effective education options
for children, National School Choice Week will be the largest
celebration of education options in US history.
