Thompson Hine Adds Corporate Partner Bibb Lamar Strench in Washington

Strench Joins as Fifth Lateral Partner in 2016

WASHINGTON–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Thompson
Hine LLP
is pleased to announce that Bibb Lamar Strench has joined
the Investment Management subgroup of the firm’s Corporate Transactions
& Securities practice as a partner in Washington, D.C.

Strench is the fifth lateral partner to join Thompson Hine this year,
following the recent addition of corporate partner David
D. Watson
in Cleveland, and last month’s expansion of its New York
office with the addition of Timothy
J. McCarthy and Louis M. Solomon
to the Business Litigation practice
and Jonathan
A. Olick
to the Real Estate practice.

Strench’s practice focuses on exchange-traded funds (ETFs), closed-end
funds, mutual funds and other investment companies. He provides advice
on regulatory, compliance, entity formation, auditor independence,
corporate governance and other issues related to the operation of funds
and investment advisors.

Strench began his career as a lawyer with the U.S. Securities and
Exchange Commission, Division of Investment Management, where he worked
on notable no-action letters and significant exemptive applications, as
well as participated in the inspection of mutual fund complexes. During
that time, the Division approved key innovations that modernized the
fund industry including the first ETF and the first mutual fund multiple
class structure.

“Thompson Hine’s highly regarded investment management practice and its
growing presence in Washington was a big draw,” said Strench. “Over the
years, I have worked closely with several corporate partners at the firm
and found them to be exceptional practitioners and am looking forward to
having them as my colleagues. I especially welcome the opportunity to
apply the firm’s cutting-edge legal service processes and technology to
my ETF and other fund clients. This will allow them to achieve greater
efficiencies and an enhanced client-lawyer experience.”

“Bibb brings a wealth of investment management experience to Thompson
Hine, and we are pleased to expand this service area out of our
Washington office,” said David A. Wilson, partner-in-charge of the
Washington office. Donald S. Mendelsohn, leader of the Investment
Management group added, “his practice complements our existing
investment management practice well, and our clients will greatly
benefit from his work in the area of ETFs and Investment Company Act
issues.”
