“We are delighted to host our fifth annual Festival People en Español
and unite our community around their passions with two days of free
entertainment and empowerment programming,” said Monique Manso, Vice
President, Brand Sales Director, People en Español. “With a nod to our
20th anniversary, we are featuring the top celebrities, influencers and
leaders from around the world to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month and
revel in our culture.”
People en Español will also use the festival as a platform to energize
the Hispanic community and galvanize civic engagement and voting
awareness during a crucial election year by teaming up with CNN en
Español and with Voto Latino, an organization that empowers American
Latino millennials by engaging them through civic media. In addition to
its anchors participating in several festival panels, CNN en Español
will engage with festival attendees from its news truck, encouraging
voter participation. Voto Latino will co-host a panel discussion—titled
“New Generation of Voters”—with Latino millennials on Sunday,
October 16. The panel will focus on the importance of voting and having
one’s voice heard, particularly for young Latinos, during this year’s
general election. Actress, singer and TV personality Adrienne
Bailon and TV host William Vales will participate
in the discussion, which will be moderated by CNN en Español
correspondent Juan Carlos López. Voto Latino will also have
an interactive photo booth during the festival, where attendees can take
and print photos, share the photos to social media and be informed about
voting this election season.
