Tyco Security Products, Google, GE Sponsor Flying Bridges Leadership Event for Women

Anita Santos, Irene Lam and eight other female leaders from Tyco
Security Products will be offering career guidance, strategy and career
insights to female students and professionals in STEM careers and
leadership positions

WESTFORD, Mass.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Tyco Security Products is pleased to announce that it is partnering
alongside Google and General Electric to sponsor Work Ready Women:
PowerUP! 2016, a networking event for female college students and
professionals in the Greater Boston area. Produced by Flying Bridges, a
for-profit/for-benefit hybrid company based in San Francisco, CA, ten
women from Tyco Security Products, in positions ranging from entry level
to executive roles, will participate in the event, offering advice and
strategies to elevate attendees’ career decisions and choices. The event
will be held at Google’s Cambridge, Mass., headquarters on September
26th.

Work Ready Women: PowerUP! 2016 matches 35 women from MIT, Harvard, and
represented by the National Society of Black Engineers, Society of Women
Engineers, and the Society of Professional Hispanic Engineers with
female leaders and professionals from Tyco Security Products, Google,
General Electric, Intel and several other companies dedicated to
supporting and advocating female leadership development in the science,
technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) fields. The event focuses
on the themes of financial literacy, leadership reach and ally
reciprocity. Anita Santos, VP of Marketing, and Irene Lam, VP of
Engineering, will be among the ten women representing Tyco Security
Products at PowerUP! 2016.

Santos will also participate in the event’s Leadership Reach Roundtable,
which teaches strategies on performance in male dominated workplaces and
industries. She will be joined on the panel by: Andrea Cox, General
Electric’s Executive of Engineering Operations Management, Aviation;
Clem Cole, Intel’s Corporate Volume HPC Software Systems Architect; and
Bobbie Carlton, founder of Innovation Women and Carlton Media. The
PowerUP! Leadership Reach panel will be moderated by Kimberly Adams, the
founder of Flying Bridges.

“Mentorship and development initiatives like PowerUP! are crucial in
providing young women with the tools necessary to excel in industries
and companies that are traditionally dominated by men,” Santos said.
“I’m honored to share my experiences and knowledge with young women
considering STEM careers and leadership roles through this collaboration
with Tyco Security Products, Google, and GE.”

The Leadership Reach panel will be informal and aims to encourage story
sharing between panelists, covering topics such as how to manage
shifting priorities, where to seek guidance in decision-making,
developing a leadership style and pathways to becoming a successful
leader in STEM. Santos previously participated in Flying Bridges’ 2015
All Girl Challenge, of which Tyco Security Products was also a sponsor.
Other PowerUP! 2016 activities include coffee chats, table top workshops
and luncheon networking. Work Ready Women: PowerUP! 2016 will be held
10:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on September 26th on Google’s campus in Kendall
Square.
