UK care home group Canford Healthcare moves to cloud with Auxilion

-Care home group invests in latest technology to boost resident services
and support growth

SHEFFIELD, England & DUBLIN–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Canford Healthcare, the UK based care home group, is implementing a
major technology programme with international cloud transformation and
support company, Auxilion (www.auxilion.com).

Canford, which employs over 1,000 staff across 10 care homes and two
domiciliary care businesses in the South East of England, is investing
over £115,000 in cloud based technology and services to boost staff
efficiency as well as resident and guest facilities.

“Over the last 12 months we have grown from five care homes to ten with
staff increasing from 500 to over 1,000. We turned to Auxilion to make
sure that our technology keeps pace and provides a scalable platform for
future growth,” commented Brian Cooney, Managing Director, Canford
Healthcare (www.canfordhealthcare.co.uk).

“Canford has a clear vision of how it wants to become one of the UK’s
premier providers of care and support services,” commented Paul Schmitz,
Chief Sales Officer, Auxilion. “The implementation of a secure,
scalable, reliable and cost effective technology cloud based platform is
a one of the fundamental elements in helping to achieve that goal.”

Canford had been using on premise servers and software. Integration
between the various care homes was difficult and increasingly so as new
locations came on board. The cost of replacing and maintaining a wide
range of on premise servers was expensive and inefficient.

Auxilion recommended a move to the cloud using Microsoft Office 365 for
traditional desktop applications and email. Auxilion also set up
Microsoft Azure for secure file and print services. Azure is Microsoft’s
cloud based platform and infrastructure for building, deploying and
managing applications and services.

As part of the implementation, Auxilion has upgraded Canford’s laptops
so as to be able to run email and Office 365 for business. Senior staff
who are on the road are using Microsoft’s Surface Pro tablets and can
securely access central files from home or anywhere in the world with an
internet connection. Auxilion is also working with Canford to upgrade
secure wi-fi connections across all the homes for residents, guests and
staff.

The new infrastructure has been carefully integrated with Canford’s
specialist care home software application which incorporates care
planning and scheduling and minimises administrative tasks to allow
staff to focus on residents.

“Auxilion’s implementation and support people have been great,” added
Brian Cooney. “We specialise in care and Auxilion demonstrated the same
commitment all along the way.”

Canford Healthcare, which has revenues in excess of £30 million, was
recently named by accounting firm BDO LLP as one of the top performing
mid-market (turnover between £10m-300m) companies in South Central
England.
