American cookware retailer enters the Caribbean at Puerto Rico’s New,
Luxury Shopping Center

SAN FRANCISCO–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Williams-Sonoma opens today, Friday, September 25 at The Mall of San
Juan in The Commonwealth of Puerto Rico. This is the first store ever
for the brand to open in the Caribbean located in The Mall of San Juan,
Puerto Rico’s newest shopping center. The Mall of San Juan opened in
March of this year and is the island’s first upscale mall in Puerto
Rico. The state-of-the-art, two-level, enclosed mall, offers dining and
entertainment, unique retailers and a children’s play area not found
anywhere else on the island. Williams-Sonoma’s North American presence
now includes the location at the Mall of San Juan, seven existing stores
in Canada and two stores in Mexico City opening this Fall.

Williams-Sonoma President, Janet Hayes remarks, “We’re thrilled to be
expanding our North American footprint in the Caribbean. The Mall of San
Juan is a spectacular shopping center and we look forward to be
contributing to the local economy as well as serving the community
here.” Williams-Sonoma at The Mall of San Juan opens on Friday with a
ribbon cutting ceremony at 9:00am. The store will be hosting celebrated
Puerto Rican Chef Jose Santaella at the store on Saturday, September 26

The brand is donating a portion of sales from its opening events to the
local charity Fundación Pro Ayuda.

Williams-Sonoma San Juan measures just over 8,000 square feet and will
have two cooktops; one island for demonstrations and another with 12
seats for interactive culinary activities for adults and children. The
overall design reflects the visual and merchandising strategy that
Williams-Sonoma is introducing in new retail locations stateside,
including herringbone wood flooring with black and white marble tile.
Oak and white fixtures have also been planned to enhance the shopping
experience. Two skylights will distinguish the location by allowing
natural light into the space. Williams-Sonoma will be introducing a
curated assortment of products and foods for a localized customer
