Wyoming Families to Rally in Support of School Choice on 1/29

Hundreds expected to celebrate educational opportunity in Wyoming
during National School Choice Week

CHEYENNE, Wyo.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Students, parents, teachers, and community leaders will rally in
Cheyenne to celebrate school choice on Friday, January 29.

The event, which will take place at 3 p.m. at the Laramie County
Library, will feature representatives from all educational options –
traditional public schools, public charter schools, magnet schools,
private schools, and home education – who will share their school choice
stories.

The celebration is timed to coincide with National School Choice Week
(January 24-30, 2016), which will be America’s largest-ever celebration
of opportunity in education, with more than 16,000 events being planned.

“Wyoming has a lot to offer parents when it comes to educational
options,” said Amy Threewitt of PublicSchoolOptions.org. “We want to
make sure parents are aware of the opportunities they have to make a
change if their child is struggling. We celebrate that opportunity and
the difference that the right school can make in a student’s life during
National School Choice Week.”

“No matter what type of school a parent chooses for their child, we
celebrate their ability to do so,” said Meredith Adams of Ed Pref
Wyoming. “We are excited to join the thousands of events going on around
the country this week to raise awareness about the difference school
choice is making in students’ lives.”

The event is being planned by several organizations, including Ed Pref
Wyoming, Institute for Justice, and PublicSchoolOptions.org.

Held every January, National School Choice Week is an independent public
awareness effort designed to shine a positive spotlight on effective
education options for every child. Through thousands of independently
planned events across the country, National School Choice Week raises
public awareness of all types of educational choices available to
children. These options include traditional public schools, public
charter schools, public magnet schools, online learning, private
schools, and homeschooling.
