A contact familiar with the plans for Sunday’s halftime show told The Associated Press on Thursday that Grammy winner Missy Elliott is going to be gracing the stage with her presence, alongside Perry’s performance. It’s supposed to be a surprise but that is a hopeless wish in the days of the Internet. The person spoke to the AP on condition of anonymity because Elliott’s participation had not been announced by the NFL. SEE ALSO: Fly away with Lenny Kravitz at the Super Bowl halftime show This anonymous source isn’t the only clue of Elliott’s surprise appearance. During a news conference Thursday, Katy Perry herself hinted at Elliott’s involvement in the Super Bowl act, which also will feature Lenny Kravitz. Perry and Elliott have worked together before in 2011 when Elliott was featured on a remix of Perry’s song “Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)”. Perry said the halftime show will include an “old school” female singer but did not say who that would be. “When you hear the first ring of the chord,” Perry promised, “I think jaws will drop and faces will melt.” Elliott is a multiplatinum rapper, singer and producer whose Grammy Awards from the early 2000s include Best Rap Solo Performance for “Get Ur Freak On,” and Best Female Rap Solo Performance for “Work It” and “Scream a.k.a. Itchin’.” Other Super Bowl halftime shows have included unannounced performances, including by singer Usher and former Guns ‘N Roses guitarist Slash in 2011.

It’s been two decades since the beloved and talented Selena Quintanilla passed away. Having to live without a wonderful role model has not been easy for Selena fans. Her legacy, however, is more alive than ever and will be honored at a festival in her hometown. Since 1995, the year that we lost the Mexican-American superstar, fans and family members have dedicated their lives to keeping her trajectory in the spotlight. SEE ALSO: How one man became a true Selena fan after her death Everything from dressing up as her for Halloween, singing her songs on TV talent shows and still playing her chart-topping tunes on the radio, Quintanilla is far from forgotten. Now, almost 20-years since her tragic death on March 31st, the Quintanilla family and Texas’ city Corpus Christi are commemorating their lovely star with a two-day music and film festival called “Fiesta de la Flor” (Festival of the Flower). The festival’s name pays homage to Selena’s hit single “Como la Flor,” and is expected to take place near her birthday the weekend of April 17th and 18th. The Latina starlet was born on April 16, 1971. Though the tribute festival is three months away, local news in Texas have reported that the Corpus Christi City Council gave approval for the Convention and Visitors Bureau to use “Bayfront Park” for a festival to honor Selena Quintanilla-Perez. “We are working with them [the Quintanilla family] to make sure the park and adjacent areas are ready to go for a great festival in April that will celebrate music and film and will be great,” said Interim Parks & Recreation Director Stacie Talbert to Southern Texas’ Kiii TV. The city expects about 50,000 visitors to bring in about $1 million to the local economy. The Quintanilla family confirmed this announcement Wednesday. Friday, April 17 Steven James & The Jaded Las Fenix Grammy winner Los Lobos An outdoor screening of “Selena” also will be shown as part of Alamo Drafthouse’s annual Rolling Roadshow of movie screenings, reports Caller Times.

Disappointed with the 2015 Coachella lineup? If so, put your sorrows aside and start packing and get ready for Bonnaroo 2015, to take place in the middle of summer from June 11th to 14th. At Bonnaroo, the show goes on almost all night and you can also enjoy good food and the feeling of being in a farm —or close to it, but surrounded by music, attractions and fun. The 2015 Bonnaroo Lineup Headliners at the festival include singer and pianist Billy Joel, British quartet Mumford & Sons, Canada’s Deadmau5 and California-based 27-year old rapper Kendrick Lamar. SEE ALSO: Coachella 2015 will be all the rage –do you have your tix? Not only do the headlining acts give us a better feel of what to expect at the festival, but so does the list of other great performers invading the concert, such as Robert Plant, My Morning Jacket, Alabama Shakes, Florence + The Machine, Tycho, Tears for Fears, Flying Lotus and more. Bonnaroo takes place in the outskirts of Manchester, Tenn., on a 700-acre location. There are several ways to reach the facilities from close cities as well as possibilities for camping, including RVs. Activities during the festival include a parade, food trucks, cinema and much more. Children are welcome and tickets can be purchased by payments —sort of lay-away system. On the festival’s website there is plenty of information about the facilities and accommodations. Tickets go on sale starting Saturday, January 17 at noon. For the complete list of artists, click here. Latino artists There are two Latino artists invited to perform at Bonnaroo this year: Chilean hip hop singer and composer Ana Tijoux and Detroit’s Jessica Hernandez & the Deltas. Ana Tijoux Ana Tijoux is already a well established artist and she became a constant presence around the U.S. She jumped to fame with the song “1977” —the year she was born in France of Chilean political refuges parents. Tijoux’s lyrics most of the time make social references while her music blends traditional hip hop with strings and some local Latin tunes. Tijoux also cooperates with other artists, producing a beautiful mix of tunes and languages, like with Shadia Mansour, Jorge Drexler and Julieta Venegas. Jessica Hernandez & The Deltas Jessica Hernandez & The Deltas is a Detroit-based band with a rich blend of rock with blues tones and, yes, some Latin touches. Jessica is the daughter of a Mexican mother and a Cuban father who studied fashion design and music. No wonder she goes both, designs her own clothes and creates her own music. This will be the band’s second appearance in Bonnaroo, the first time was in 2012. SEE ALSO: Which Latino acts will invade Coachella Festival 2015? Must-Watch Artists at Bonnaroo From pop to punk rock, attendees can listen, dance and enjoy an incredible diversity of music. Here is VOXXI’s top five pick of artists that you can’t miss if going this year to Bonnaroo. Alabama Shakes Courtney Barnett Brandi Carlile Flying Lotus Iceage It’s off to a great year of music and arts festival with the announcements of Coachella and Bonnaroo. The next big music festivals for 2015 are Lollapalooza (Chicago, July 31-August 2, 2015) and Outside Lands (San Francisco, August 7-9.) Neither one released their lineup list yet and expectations are high.

The post Bonnaroo Festival 2015: Let the music begin! appeared first on Voxxi.

Football fan or not, the halftime show at the Super Bowl is always an event to look forward to. Even more when Lenny Kravitz has been confirmed at this year’s sports and musical phenomenon. It was announced last year that Katy Perry will headline the popular halftime show in its 2015 edition. SEE ALSO: 2015 Grammy nominations are in: Who will be the big winner? But the pop star won’t be alone in the journey, as she invited Kravitz to join her on stage at event. She revealed the big announcement over the weekend during AFC playoff game between the Baltimore Ravens and the New England Patriots, reports Rolling Stone. “My first special guest is going to be an incredible rock & roll icon, a guitar god,” said Perry before unveiling the exciting news. Considering she said he was was her “first” special guest, Katy Perry could potentially have another surprise up her sleeve, but we’d have to wait until February 1st to see what happens at the Super Bowl. Performing at the Super Bowl will be a rock and roll start of Kravitz’s busy year. Following the release of his 2014 album “Strut,” the legendary American rocker is expected to hit the road once again with an international tour. The Super Bowl halftime show has always been full of surprises with everything from infamous nipple sightings to Beyonce reuniting with Destiny’s Child on stage. SEE ALSO: Halftime Show: Bruno Mars and Red Hot Chili Peppers like never before It has also featured worldwide superstars such as Paul McCartney, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Bruno Mars and Madonna.

Mana is getting the ball rolling for their new 2015 tour. After almost 30 years of records, roads and stages, the iconic Mexican band looks forward for a pretty busy year ahead loaded with action. Last Monday, the band made public on their official Facebook wall they are arranging details for what will be their next tour. Neither this post nor their official website specify whether this tour will be worldwide or when and where it starts. SEE ALSO: Mana is first Latin act added to Rock in Rio US lineup The band’s drummer Alex said in the post, “I’m very happy and excited to work again with my friends John Douglas and Julio Galindo –for what will be the new drum set for Mana’s new 2015 tour.” It wouldn’t be a surprise if the band launches a big-scale tour this year. With a new studio album expected to be out in March, they could aim to emulate the massive success of their last one “Drama y Luz” released in 2011. Their eighth studio album was backed by the “Drama y Luz World Tour”, a DVD, and a vinyl edition. They played in 72 cities of 19 countries. The singles of that album quickly climbed the charts in the United States, selling 47,000 copies in the first week after the release. Fher, George y yo en el estudio!Mucha música para todos en este año que nace!!! – @oficialvallin @gnoriega #música #manaticos #Miami #Mexico #añonuevo #magia #estudio #mix A photo posted by Maná (@manaoficial) on Jan 1, 2015 at 1:20pm PST Last November, they joined Shakira in Barcelona, Spain to shoot a music video for a collaboration called “Mi Verdad”. This will be the first single for their upcoming record. But they have more for this year. Mana will perform in Rock in Rio USA. The event will be in Las Vegas on May 8, 9, 15 and 16. The band will share the stage with No Doubt on May 8. Metallica, Linkin Park, John Legend, Deftones, Bruno Mars and others have confirmed. Mana already participated at the 2012 edition of the festival in Madrid, Spain. SEE ALSO: Maná and Shakira come together for the music video of ‘Mi Verdad’ Lead singer Fher met with San Blas’ municipal president to discuss the exact date for a Mana free concert in that city this year. One of the band’s greatest hits “En el Muelle de San Blas” was inspired in a local story of this town. After four Grammys, seven Latin Grammys, 14 Billboard Latin Music Awards and more than 25 million copies sold, Fher, Alex, Juan and Sergio still seem hungry for making music and hitting the road for a direct delivery to their fans.

The post Mana is getting ready to kick-off their 2015 tour appeared first on Voxxi.

With a massive lineup and tickets on sale Wednesday, the countdown to the 2015 Coachella Festival has begun. Those who are faithful attendees of the event must be some happy campers. We’re pretty thrilled too, especially with some promising acts representing Latinos. SEE ALSO: Coachella 2015 will be all the rage –do you have your tix? Coachella news flooded the web this week when the list of performers was announced, becoming a hot trend on social media. Headlining acts this year include classic rock band AC/DC, eclectic rocker Jack White and reputed rapper Drake. A three-day, two-weekend event in Indio, California during Spring, what more can you ask for? Oh, we know….sazon and pachanga! Here are four Latino acts who have their spot reserved at this year’s Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival. We bet you don’t want to miss them! Chicano Batman Los Angeles-based band, Chicano Batman, is composed of four talented Latinos who describe their genre as soul, psych and tropical. Some of their influences come from artists such as Caetano Veloso, James Brown and Los Angeles Negros…trippy! Performance at Coachella: Sunday, April 12 FKA Twigs The odd yet unique FKA Twigs is ready to strut her captivating sound at Coachella.

New Year’s Eve is on its merry way, how will you be ringing in 2015? We have the perfect idea and it has Jennifer Lopez written all over. If you’ve yet to make plans for December 31st, why not invite some friends to your place, buy party hats, order take-out, pop champagne bottles, all while partying it up with J.Lo? Sounds like a plan to me! SEE ALSO: Who does it better for Christmas, Americans or Latinos? The Puerto Rican singer seems thrilled to ring in the new year with an HBO special called “Jennifer Lopez: Dance Again,” where she will make you want to get up and dance with a high-energy documentary/concert. Take a peak behind the curtain of my first world tour 12/31 at 9pm on @HBO. #DanceAgainHBO pic.twitter.com/1oejVZj9rO — Jennifer Lopez (@JLo) December 12, 2014 The HBO special will go behind the scenes of J.Lo’s first world tour “Dance Again,” where she hits 65 cities and five continents, making millions of J.Lovers happy. It’s also the first time she hit the road with her two young children in tow. “I wanted to tell a story, to open myself up to people,” says Lopez in a statement. “The experience was more fulfilling than I could have ever imagined. This documentary brings back so many incredible memories and I am so excited to relive the tour, and once again, share these experiences with my fans.” The special includes intimate documentary footage and interviews with Lopez and her closest friends, who accompanied her on the road, as well as spectacular in-concert renditions of many of her biggest hits, including “Get Right,” “Love Don’t Cost a Thing,” “I’m Into You,” “Goin’ In,” “Let’s Get Loud,” “On the Floor,” “I’m Real,” “Do It Well,” “All I Have” and “Dance Again.” Lopez, who is considered one of the most famous Latina entertainers in the world, begins the tour in South America and ends in Puerto Rico, where she held her first concert 11 years earlier. SEE ALSO: Rosario Dawson’s ‘Top Five’ Christmas traditions This, to us, smells like the perfect way to welcome the new year. “Jennifer Lopez: Dance Again” will debut simultaneously on HBO and HBO Latino, airing from 9p.m. to 10:30p.m. Eastern Time on Wednesday, December 31st.
