Bill and Hillary Clinton are the proud grandparents of a baby girl. Their daughter, Chelsea Clinton, had her first child on Friday. They named her Charlotte.

Chelsea Clinton, 34, announced the baby’s birth on Twitter on Saturday.

Marc and I are full of love, awe and gratitude as we celebrate the birth of our daughter Charlotte Clinton Mezvinsky.

Apart for the announcement done by the Clinton spokeman, Kamyl Bazbaz that the baby was born on Friday, there are not much more information.

Chelsea and Marc live in New York. Chelsea is the vice chair of the Clinton Foundation. She worked at the consultant firm McKinsey & Co. and at Avenue Capital before taking a full-time role at the Clinton Foundation.

The happy grandmother Hillary had all worked out and she even had in mind the first book she was going to read to her grandchild, “Goodnight Moon”. Now with the child happily delivered, the former secretary of state can concentrate on her political future and maybe clear up her intentions to run for the next presidential elections.

The expectations about Chelsea pregnancy and delivery has been compared to the turmoil that encircled the arrival of Prince William and Kate Middleton’s son, George.

Although Chelsea Clinton never gave the public a due date, her parents hinted for weeks about being on “baby watch.” Hillary Clinton joked during a Sept. 14 barbecue in Iowa about possibly having to dash off because “Bill and I are on constant grandchild watch.” A week later, the former president told CNN: “I hope by the first of October, I’ll be a grandfather.”

Chelsea Clinton, who spent her teenage years in the White House, announced on April 18, during a Clinton Foundation event while seated next to her mother, the news that her parents had waited to hear for years: at last they were going to be grandparents.

Chelsea married investment banker Marc Mezvinsky in 2010. Chelsea and Marc, the son of two former members of Congress, met as teenagers through their families, studied at Stanford University in California at the same time, but did not come together as a couple until 2005.
