Jeb Bush to ‘actively explore’ running for president

Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush announced Tuesday that he will “actively explore the possibility of running for president of the United States.” Bush, who’s a Republican, made the announcement via a Facebook post. He wrote that over Thanksgiving he “talked about the future of our nation” with his family. “As a result of these conversations and thoughtful consideration of the kind of strong leadership I think America needs, I have decided to actively explore the possibility of running for President of the United States,” Bush said. He also wrote on the Facebook post that he will create a leadership political action committee in January to help “facilitate conversations with citizens across America to discuss the most critical challenges facing our exceptional nation.” He said the main purpose of the committee will be “to support leaders, ideas and policies that will expand opportunity and prosperity for all Americans.” “In the coming months, I hope to visit with many of you and have a conversation about restoring the promise of America,” Bush added. Reaction on Facebook was mostly positive, with one person saying it was the “Best news of the week!” and another referring to Bush as “Mr. Future President.” Bush is the son of former President George H.W.
