‘Taken 3′ features abuelita’s best weapon, the ‘chancla’

The action-packed soon-to-be trilogy “Taken” has just gotten better with the movie debut of Latinos secret weapon la chancla (the flip-flop). It may sound crazy and silly, but something tells us that Liam Neeson’s character Bryan Mills –only our favorite ex-government operative in the world–, has a new and powerful weapon in “Taken 3.” SEE ALSO: Hispanic parents be like: ‘Vaporub to the rescue!’ I mean, can you imagine your abuelita’s chancla in the hands of Liam Neeson? If you’re a die-hard fan of “Taken” and its sequel, then you know that those flying flip-flops will be a serious threat. Chanclas are everywhere, killing people and bursting out of guns as bullets, in a 50-second clip promoting the upcoming production directed by Oliver Megaton. Though we highly doubt that the “secret weapon” makes its feature in the flick, we can’t help but get a kick out of the humorous trailer. Can you picture Neeson delivering his now famous line with a twist? “I will look for you, I will find you, and then te voy a meter un chancletazo…” For the most part, Latinos are known for using the chancla as a tool of discipline. In “Taken 3,” Neeson returns as ex-covert operative Bryan Mills, whose long awaited reconciliation with his ex-wife is tragically cut short when she is brutally murdered. Consumed with rage, and framed for the crime, he goes on the run to evade the relentless pursuit of the CIA, FBI and the police.
