Silly Miley Cyrus, porn is for pros

Over the past few years, Miley Cyrus transformed from a Disney channel starlet into a foam finger-abusing, wrecking ball-riding, scantily clad controversial pop star. Despite the rumors, however, she’s not ready to add “porn star” to her resume, at least not yet.

On Monday, news surfaced that Miley Cyrus would be the focus of a film screening at the NYC Porn Film Festival later this month. Naturally, media outlets glommed onto the story, always eager to report on the pop star’s controversial new antics.

Cyrus’ reps have since denied the singer’s participation in the festival, and the video has been pulled from the lineup.

“Miley was proud to make a film with acclaimed filmmaker Quentin Jones. Neither she nor Quentin are participating in this ‘festival’ in any way,” Cyrus’ spokesperson told BuzzFeed News Tuesday.

Jones’ three-minute short, “Tongue Tied,” featured shots of Cyrus’ infamous tongue and shots of the star being blindfolded and tied up. There is no outright nudity in the film. The monochromatic, grungy video looks like it should be playing in a modern art exhibit, but probably not at a porn festival.

The clip did, in fact, play in the background during shows on Miley’s Bangerz tour, which was called “raunchy” and “campy,” but certainly did not cross into the pornographic realm.

According to Fusion, Simon Leahy, the festival’s organizer, previously stated that Cyrus’ video is “a pop take on S&M. She’s starting to become more of a contemporary artist.”

The NYC Porn Film Festival was more than a little eager to announce Cyrus’ participation in the event on their Facebook page. The post has since been removed, but having Cyrus’ name attached to the event—even if just for a day—has already done wonders for the festival’s publicity.

There will be a wide range of films, shorts, and performances at the first-ever NYC Porn Film Festival, but Miley Cyrus will not make an appearance in any of them.
