98% of North Carolina Virtual Academy Students Benefitted Academically From Curriculum in 2015-2016

— Online public school welcomes students back on August 22 —

DURHAM, N.C.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Students at North
Carolina Virtual Academy
(NCVA), an accredited, full-time,
online public charter school, will begin their 2016-2017 school year on
August 22. According to a spring 2016 survey conducted by Edge Research,
98% of the families with students enrolled in the school during the
2015-2016 school year felt that their child had benefitted academically
from the curriculum.

NCVA serves students in grades K through 11 who reside anywhere in North
Carolina. The rigorous and engaging curriculum offered by the school
includes courses in language arts/English, math, science, history, world
languages, art and music, as well as elective and Advanced Placement®
courses for high school students. State-certified teachers provide
instruction, guidance and support, and interact with students and
parents via email, web-based classrooms, online discussions, phone and
face-to-face meetings. As a public school option, there is no tuition.

“We are excited to welcome our students back for another year of
learning and challenging one another to exceed expectations,” said Joel
Medley, Head of School at North Carolina Virtual Academy. “Our goal is
to help our students reach the highest level of academic achievement
that we know they are capable of, and continue to strengthen our school
community.”

NCVA offers a flexible approach to its curriculum to ensure that all
students find a learning style that works best for them. Advanced
learners have the ability to progress faster in subjects at which they
excel, while students who need more time to grasp a concept can have
that opportunity. With numerous lessons per subject, students can dive
deeper into areas of study which interest them the most.

“We have found the teachers at NCVA to be much more accommodating to our
daughter’s individual needs,” said Teresa Armstrong, whose daughter
Megan will be starting 5th grade this fall. “Megan is
learning more now than ever before and the flexibility to work ahead in
the subjects in which she excels, while taking the time she needs to
grasp more difficult concepts, has been paramount to her academic
growth.”

Earlier this summer, NCVA challenged enrolled families to prevent summer
‘brain drain’ by offering students free access to LearnBop,
a self-paced solution that simulates a one-on-one, personalized math
tutoring experience. The award-winning online program will continue to
be available free of charge throughout the fall and can be used
alongside the regular math curriculum to build math skills or prepare
for high-level exams.

NCVA has reached its enrollment cap for grades K-11 for the 2016-2017
school year. However, applications are still being accepted for all
grades, but are now being placed on a waitlist in the order in which
they are completed. Seat offers will be extended throughout the school
year as space becomes available. To learn more about enrollment
