eHarmony Promotes Dr. Steve Carter to Chief Scientist Following the Successful Launch of Elevated Careers by eHarmony

LOS ANGELES–(BUSINESS WIRE)–eHarmony today announced the promotion of Dr. Steve Carter to Chief
Scientist on the heels of the successful launch of eHarmony’s jobs
matching product, Elevated Careers by eHarmony, in March. In development
for three years, the Elevated Careers’ team has transformed eHarmony’s
compatibility matching for romantic relationships into a platform that
can help find the best fit between job seekers and hiring organizations.

Dr. Carter has been at eHarmony since its inception, part of the
original team that developed eHarmony from concept to enterprise. Today,
Dr. Carter is responsible for leading the development, testing and
implementation of the data science that powers eHarmony and its new
verticals, applying compatibility science to achieve the next-level in
Founder and CEO, Dr. Neil Clark Warren’s vision for a compatible world.

“eHarmony was created to solve a problem that was consistently present
in failing relationships, a lack of broad based compatibility,” said Dr.
Warren. “Steve was able to adapt the compatibility science that he
helped develop for eHarmony to a new set of relationships between a job
seeker and an employer. The resulting product, Elevated Careers, is
transformative for the company and the career industry. Steve’s
experience and expertise are unparalleled in the online dating and
careers industries and we are so pleased to announce his promotion.”

eHarmony’s approach to compatibility matching relies on continuing
empirical research and data science, using factors that predict
happiness and satisfaction in romantic settings or career situations as
building blocks for its matching algorithms.

“Matching on compatibility has proven itself as a method for starting
romantic relationships over the past 16 years,” said Dr. Carter.
“Extending compatibility matching beyond romantic relationships was a
natural next step in eHarmony’s evolution, reflecting Dr. Warren’s
vision to grow eHarmony into a relationship company. I am honored to be
promoted to Chief Scientist.”

Dr. Carter was promoted from Vice President of Matching to Chief
Scientist, effective immediately. Prior to joining eHarmony, Dr. Carter
conducted research on life-span development and complex problem solving
at the University of Southern California, where he received his Ph.D. in
psychology. Dr. Carter currently resides in Pasadena with his lovely
wife and twin boys.
