L.O.U.D. Hosts Inaugural SOMOS Gala, Launches Billboard Campaign In Honor of National Hispanic Heritage Month

LOS ANGELES–(BUSINESS WIRE)–AIDS Healthcare Foundation’s Latino Outreach and Understanding Division
(L.O.U.D.) will host its first SOMOS Gala to commemorate National
Hispanic Heritage Month on September 24th at 7
PM
at the Cicada Club and Restaurant, located at 617 South
Olive Street
in downtown Los Angeles. The black-tie gala dinner and
ceremony will honor the contributions of individuals and organizations
that have contributed to the advancement and well-being of Latino
communities nationally. The event will also include the unveiling of a
Los Angeles-based billboard and multimedia campaign that highlights the
courage and determination of an undocumented lawyer, a transgender
Latina teen, and a gender non-confirming disabled dancer.


“L.O.U.D is excited to host our inaugural gala dinner and launch our
first multi-platform campaign during National Hispanic Heritage Month to
celebrate Latino individuals and groups whose cultural pride and stories
of triumph are truly inspirational,” said Hector Torres, Chair of
L.O.U.D. “With Latinos making up 21% of all new HIV infections in the
U.S., we also want to recognize those who have and continue to work to
eliminate the social and health disparities that remain a threat to
Latino communities.”
