Principal of Poindexter Surety Group Honored as Re Scholar

Janus Assurance Re proudly announces the graduation of Constantin Poindexter from the Reinsurance Scholar Program, having become the first Dominican to be given the honor and one of sixteen individuals worldwide to have received the certificate. On November 8th, the Reinsurance Association of America (RAA) awarded Poindexter the Reinsurance Scholar designation. The designation signifies that the recipient has attended no less than five, multi-day instructional sessions held in Bermuda, Chicago and New York, and completed coursework in five distinct reinsurance areas. The mandatory blocks of instruction include reinsurance fundamentals, claims and loss management, designing contracts and treaties, financial analysis and underwriting.

The Reinsurance Association of America is the leading trade association of property and casualty reinsurers doing business in the United States. The RAA is committed to promoting a regulatory environment that ensures the industry remains globally competitive and financially robust. RAA membership is diverse, including reinsurance underwriters and intermediaries licensed in the United States and those that conduct business on a cross border basis.

Constantin Poindexter is the captive manager of Janus Assurance Re and chief underwriter at Surety One, Inc., a surety managing general agency and exclusive attorney-in-fact of Janus. Says Poindexter, “I am pleased to have been able to learn from such a gifted cadre of instructors, and very proud to be the first Dominican to take this honor back to my country. This was a really enriching experience.”
