Public Health Solutions to Close Early Intervention Service Coordination Program

NEW YORK–(BUSINESS WIRE)–After 24 years, Public Health Solutions (PHS), one of the largest public
health service nonprofits in NYC, will close its Early Intervention
Service Coordination program (EISC), effective June 30, 2017. The Early
Intervention program, funded by the New York State Department of Health
(NYSDOH), provides therapeutic and support services to children age 0-3
with developmental disabilities or delays. PHS has provided service
coordination for eligible families, arranging for evaluations and
therapeutic services from other providers. After an extensive review
process, PHS’ board of directors made the difficult decision that its
EISC program is no longer financially viable.

PHS is working to transition affected families to new Service
Coordinators in other agencies. In doing so, we will work to ensure
these transitions are smooth, and PHS will personally reach out to every
family in the program to get their permission to refer them to another
agency for care services.

Today’s announcement will not affect PHS’ other programs and services,
which aim to improve health among the city’s most vulnerable
populations. Annually, PHS programs directly serve more than 80,000 New
Yorkers, providing access to healthy food, health care insurance,
maternal and child health and reproductive health.

We are proud of our work in Early Intervention Service Coordination,
and the quality of PHS’ services has been evident in client satisfaction
surveys, audit results and ongoing family testimonials,” said PHS
President and Chief Executive Officer Lisa David. “Right now, PHS is
first and foremost focused on serving the families and children
supported through EISC and in ensuring that their care is transitioned
to other qualified organizations.”
