USC Marshall Family Business Program Announces Year-Two Programs

Features series of monthly Los Angeles and Orange County member
meetings and public workshops

LOS ANGELES–(BUSINESS WIRE)–The USC Marshall Family Business Program today released its year-two
program of monthly chapter meetings and public workshops that will take
place from November through June of next year in both Los Angeles and
Orange County.

The program is designed to deliver world-class, practical learning,
tools and insights with a focus on best practices using USC Marshall
School of Business faculty, subject matter experts and peer group
experiential learning.

“Building a successful business is hard work. Creating an effective
family is also extremely hard work. Doing both in the context of a
successful multi-generational family business can be overwhelmingly
challenging,” said Ken Ude, director of the USC Marshall Family Business
Program. “This is why we’ve created this unique, specialized program to
help our members create and preserve wealth by increasing the
professionalism of the business and the effectiveness of the family.”

Chapter meetings, which will be held in both Los Angeles and Orange
Counties every other month, feature valuable insights from experts on
topics ranging from family management, preparing the business and
founder for a transition, resolving conflicts, and safeguarding and
preparing the family for wealth.

The workshops, held monthly between chapter meetings and open to the
general public, feature a boot camp on business and investing, managing
social media and other life skills, win/win negotiations, trustee and
beneficiary training, and foundations and the role of philanthropy in a
legacy family.

The first chapter meeting, “Creating Your Toolkit for Addressing the
‘Family’ in a Successful Family Business,” takes place on Nov. 7 at the
USC Irvine Campus and on Nov. 9 at USC’s downtown campus. The first
workshop, “Business & Investing ‘Boot Camp’ for the Youth and the
Non-Business Family Member,” is scheduled for Dec. 3 from 9
a.m. to noon on the USC Campus and is open to the public.

“I am extremely pleased about the quality of programs and events we are
providing to our members and their guests this upcoming year,” said Lee
Hausner, Ph.D., author, international expert on family business issues
and senior advisor to the USC Marshall Family Business Program. “We are
partnering with experts from a variety of areas to provide the fullest
and most useful learning experience possible for family businesses and
family members who attend our events.”
